Factors effecting the Freshwater Pearls

Different colors of freshwater pearls

Freshwater pearls are produced by mollusks that are commonly found in fresh water. Compared to other pearls like akoya pearls and saltwater pearls, freshwater pearls are not only beautiful but are also reasonably priced which makes them popular amongst women of all ages.

They are available in different sizes and some of the factors that affect the value and shape of the freshwater pearls are listed below:
Light Yellow Freshwater Pearls
1.    Size
2.    Surface quality
3.    Luster
4.    Shape

Among the freshwater pearls, the ones having a smooth round shape are most expensive. Pure round shape is very rarely found among the freshwater pearls.
